User Accounts

Although you can use Galaxy without creating a user account we highly recommend doing so.

  • First, having an account will allow you to see the data from any machine connected to the Internet (not only the one you are using right now).
  • Second, account will safeguard data stored in your history -- accountless histories are cleared on a systematic basis.

When signing for the account note the mailing list subscription checkbox. By checking it you will be subscribed to the mailing list galaxy-user@bx.psu.edu. This list is used to occasionally send important announcements about new functionality and periodic maintenance (it will not be used to populate your mailbox with spam). Thus it is important to use an active e-mail address as your account name.
