About Narrative Acceptance Tests
This project is to enable users of FIT and Fitnesse to write Executable Behaviour Specifications in the form of Narrative Acceptance Tests. The capabilities of the framework are primarily intended for those employing a Behaviour Driven Approach to Specification By Example (the latter being underlying concept behind Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD)
Who's behind it?
The project was started by Antony Marcano and Andy Palmer initially based on some ideas Antony had for helping teams become more effective at writing acceptance tests... particularly using FIT and Fitnesse.
Antony started introducing these ideas to teams he was coaching for one of his clients. This client was also being coached by Andy. Once Andy got involved, these ideas evolved and grew faster than ever before and together Antony and Andy started implementing the NarrativeFixture.
Acknowledgements
The style of the tests you can write with the help of the code released as part of this project is based on ideas popularised by Behaviour Driven Development. The style of the tests (given-when-then) was originally presented by Dan North and Joe Walnes in their presentation Awesome Acceptance Testing at XPDay 2006.
