Welcome to the FreERMS project

FreERMS is an Electronic Resource Management System loosely based on recommendations in the Report of the Digital Library Federation ERM Initiative, and written in PHP using the symfony framework.

FreERMS is designed to help libraries, especially consortia and other organizations with complex structure and purchasing arrangements, to manage and provide access to their licensed content.

At present, our development plans are:

  1. Refactor existing code
  2. Introduce features for management of administrative metadata
  3. Expand coverage to the single-title level

We would love to hear from anyone interested in using or contributing to FreERMS, particularly for potential core features that we don't plan to implement ourselves. Contrary to earlier plans, we will end up designing at least a simple end-user interface. We could also use a real logo! Please contact the project lead at yitzchak.schaffer@gmx.com for more information.

Construction

Please pardon our brokenness and lack of demo, as we are currently (29-Dec-09) migrating from a locally-hosted instance of SVN/Trac.
