Very slow rendering compared to browsers - Instruments trace included

Some of the SVG files I have to deal with are rendered relatively slowing in Gapplin. I love the app for smaller SVGs, but for larger files I end up using firefox instead.

I can't provide test files, but can send an Instruments trace. See attached file.
