Flicker Effect in Text Box

Bug Description: Text boxes “flicker” when the frame is advanced, momentarily being removed from the screen. This can be seen for sure in this example, although the original report says this doesn’t happen consistently.

The flicker seems to fairly consistently appear when a character’s sprite is changed. I’ll be doing some debugging to see where exactly this happens, and why.

The symptoms have been alleviated by PR #108, though I don’t know if that should resolve the issue? I’ll leave it up to you.
