Merge uv layer give inadequate results comparing to 1.6.1

Hello,

since it has been deleted here:

the merge uv layer of 1.6.2+ , give very bad results in game engine. i tried with the 1.6.1 before it has been deleted and it works perfect.

    ok i can confirm after many investigation, the results are different for version 1.6.1 and the last version

    i tested golden palace merge geograft on both uv layer.

    results was different.

    problem with the shell going out more i guess.

    The issue looks nothing like merge uv layer. Looks like you just didn’t transfer the figure morphs to the geograft, or didn’t merge the geograft.

    Also when possible you may want to use wire to show genitals because the tracker is not age restricted.

    @alessandro the issue is all about merge uv layer. and i can’t use wire because it won’t show the problem.

    how to reproduce this problem:

    1. import VICTORIA 8.1 HD
    2. use 1.6.1 to merge geograft of golden palace ( with uv layer)
    3. create hd morph with xin plugin
    4. convert to MHX pose the pelvis rotation down

    try same with 1.6.2 results will be different.

    works great with 1.6.1 not with 1.6.2+

    both mesh have no morph and no shapekey

    something must be different in the plugin code in merge geograft ( with uv layer) on the 1.6.1 and on the 1.6.2

    i’m sure there is some part of the code that changed, that’s why we not getting the same results.

    Your picture still don’t show anything about the UVs. Those can be inspected in the UV editor.

    Merging geografts with Merge UV Layers enabled runs into problems in some cases, e.g. NGV8. In the latest versions there is an error because the tool wants to merge overlapping UVs. It would probably be best to remove it as an option and demand that the user uses the Merge UV Layers button explicitly instead.

    When NGV8 is merged to G8F, the UV layers called Base Female are automatically merged, and there is no need to do anything more. The combined mesh needs both UV layers. After merging GP there are three UV layers because the base layer is named differently, and two layers should be merged.

    thank you thomas, i'm sure there is a problem with golden palace because sometimes i have issues with it, the thing it's hard to reproduce the problem, and i don't know what is it exactly, i will need more time to figure out the EXACT reason.

    ok i FOUND it!! Made me really cry lol, it been weeks i was wondering why... but i finally found the problem!

    Actually it's because when you want export your model outside blender you have to set this preserve armature to false!

    but here everything move and the golden palace is not moving so it give bad results.

    Preserve volume is neccessary to use the same weight system as daz studio so G3 G8 figures work fine. While G1 G2 use triax that’s different and not actually supported. As for why you have to disable it to get your workflow working I have no idea. Probably depends on the export options.

    If you import a fbx usually the preserve volume is disabled.

    Anyway this is a import/export matter that can be useful to discuss but doesn’t concern the plugin code as you say it’s not a bug. Please mark as invalid.

    p.s. And preserve volume has really really nothing to do with merging uvs.
