Came across this and the difference is substantial. While using this setup in evvee, framerate during animating is increased over 200% and the visual difference is negligible. Bump nodes have no effect on this performance gain and so can be used in conjunction.
Hope to see it included by default.

I am not sure how this is relevant for daz figures. The setup above is meant for low poly objects using custom normals, that’s not the case for daz assets. Unless I miss something.
