IK reverting to FK when applying poses to MHX Models.

Issue #120 closed

I'm not sure if it would be possible or how hard it would be to code it to the addon. But, it would be amazing if it was possible to apply poses from Daz, (especially partial poses(selected bones only), hands for example) to the mhx armatures without having arms and legs reverting to the FK mode if they were previously set up to the IK mode(At least to the non selected bones).

It's some frustrating when you import a cool partial pose, in my case usually hands, then you have to set up all the armature again to IK.

Despite this, the addon is each day more amazing. I really appreciate your work.

Congrats,

This is not a bug. The Daz bones that the pose was made for correspond to the FK bones in the mhx rig, so it makes sense to switch to FK. To get the corresponding IK pose, you can use the Snap FK to IK buttons.

If you want to combine partial poses, you can store the partial poses as a pose library.

I know that is not a bug. It was just a suggestion for possible enhancement. But, having some knowledge of programming(Not in python, unfortunately) and, considering how is complex the switching from Ik to Fk and vice-versa in Blender, I understand how hard would be to do something about it in the addon.

I just thought that would be easier if the addon could apply the partial poses without reverting the unselected bones to FK. Anyway, that would not be really a big solution. My real problem so far is how slowly is to switch from IF to FK, or FK to IK using the snap tool in scenes with a high number of models in the scene, probably it's as Blender issue, I'm not sure.

The use of blender pose library is a good option. The biggest issue here is its lack of visual support. If you have a library with over 50 hand poses, it's hard to know what one to use just by the names or numbers in my case. But I found a solution for this doing a table with names and respective poses for a quick reference. So, I'm ok with it. It's working for me.

    I'll close the request.
Thanks for your attention. You're doing really great work.
