The settings panel can not be found in Blender 2.83

Issue #121 resolved
Mark Hagers created an issue

I was looking forward to using this plugin, however when trying to import a duf file, I get the error that a path is not found, and to correct the paths in the settings panel.

Although the explanation is less than clear, I assume this is some settings panel belonging to the importer plugin on the Blender side. Unfortunately no mention is made on how to access this settings panel, and after about an hour of trying to get this set up, I have not been able to find this panel and I am therefore unable to use this plugin.

Weird. It is certainly there on my system. Perhaps something goes wrong when initializing the plugin.

If you start Blender from a terminal window, are there any error messages?

Are the panel below Settings (Utilities, Add-Ons, Posing) there?

Thanks for responding and kudo’s to you for providing the addon.

My bad, I had not seen it is part of the n-menu in the 3D viewport, sorry. You might consider mentioning this explicitly in the docs though. When googling for a solution I ran into at least one other user having issues finding the panel.

However, after finding the panel, and trying my first import I ran into other issues:

    • The DAZ paths were reset to their default values after every import, even though I made sure I saved the settings after editing the paths. This may have to do with Catalina trying to prevent access to certain paths, but I couldn’t find a solution for this yet.
    • The model I imported didn’t get the pose and animations it has in DAZ studio. I’ll do some more tests later today to confirm whether this is actually an issue with the addon, so I’ll follow up on this.

Update: I’m using Blender 2.83 on MacOS 10.15.5 (Catalina)

Update 2: It looks like my first test was not with the most recent version of your addon. After I installed version 1.5 the paths issue seems to be fixed, and the imported result looks much better than my previous attempts. The animation still didn’t get imported though. But I’ll dive into this when I have more time to see if there’s nothing I missed.

The Settings panel has been replaced by the Settings dialog, which you access by pressing the Global Settings button
