Cannot Merge Geografts To Active Mesh Manually (G3, G8, G8.1, G9)

Issue #1243 invalid

Hi I’m having an issue (I’m assuming it’s not a bug because no one else is seeming to mention this problem lol) since downloading the newest version of the importer. I have been using the stable 1.61 version for a while now and everything has been working fine. I’m using Blender 3.3 and the latest Diffeo version as of 11/11/22. However when merging any geograft with any figure (including Genesis 9) I get “No matching mesh found for these geografts: Has some mesh been edited?” error. I have not touched/edited any meshes at all and I’ve tried with multiple characters and even used the base G8F figure with Golden Palace v2 as well (see attachments). I want to load the character in without geografts joined so I can import morphs onto them then transfer them, then merge them. Here is the process I am using as an example:

First I import the meshes with regular options checked (JCMS, FACS etc) but merge geografts UNCHECKED.

Then I select the geograft first and then the character mesh so it is the active mesh.

Then I go to finishing tab and hit merge geografts. The window that pops up that has mulitple options I usually leave as is with vertex table checked, but I’ve tried all of them and it still gives me the error. I’ve also imported morphs and transfered to the base mesh, and then merged, but still the same thing.

Like I said before I’m pretty sure this isn’t an actual bug because everyone else seems to be able to merge them (even though other issues may occur) and there are no bug reports that I could find on it, but I can’t seem to even get them to merge. I know a lot has changed since the stable 1.61 version on the blog and it seems this process may have changed as well. There is something (probably obvious) that i’m not doing, or should be doing, and I was wondering if you could help by telling me what I’m doing wrong or if there is any updated documentation on this (I don’t see an update to this process on the blog). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

EDIT:

Please Disregard this post. After messing around some more, I have come to an obvious realization-- I was merging the face meshes (eyelashes) during the import process, increasing the base mesh vertex count (duh). Oddly enough, I vaguely remeber being able to do this on the stable 1.6.1 version no problem, but I could be wrong. One quick question though is when selecting Geometry Nodes for merging geografts, another option called ‘Merge to New Mesh’ appears. What exactly is it for? When you select it it makes a new mesh like it says and hides the old one with the geograft(s) as it would when using the geometry node option. Is it just for tidying things up, or does it serve another purpose? Anyway my issue is solved so delete or leave post, and thanks for the addon and great work you guys have put into it.
