Optimize Pose For IK not working

Issue #1299 invalid
Aaron Brantley created an issue

Using Blender 3.4 and 3.3.1, Optimize Pose For IK is not working. So after converting to rigify, ik calculation is off.

Works fine here with 3.3 and 3.4, you need to check “apply rest pose“ that I have no idea why is an option.

I click optimize pose nothing happens, then I click apply rest pose anyway, and the post is the same as the original pose

I see your figure gets a complex merged rig, probably with outfit plus hair plus geografts. This shouldn’t be a problem but just in case, does the ik pose work for you with a standard G81 ? Because this could be a issue related to a specific figure or item. Also I mean the “rest pose“ option in the tool.

note. workaround. Of course if the ik pose doesn’t work for any reason, you can always pose the figure yourself then apply the rest pose. It’s the same you just have to bend the limbs that’s what the ik pose does.

I posed it myself, like I moved the legs in such a way the tool positioned them for ik, but then after generating the rig all the generated bones are offset 😔. I suppose I can do my christmas animation with the daz rig (never used daz rig before, or added ik to that rig) it might be enough for a short animation

I was able to copy the pose from another file though, and apply rest pose and it worked so that’s sweet

As I said it may be an issue with the specific figure, sounds like for some reason you get some bones renamed and the plugin can’t recognize them properly. You can test with the standard G8F or with another figure, then upload a test scene in duf format as simple as possible with the steps to reproduce the issue.

If you can’t provide a test scene with steps I’ll close as invalid since we can’t reproduce the issue.
