Asset Browser and Pose Libraries: A warning

Issue #1353 invalid
AnonymousBlender created an issue

Pose libraries go into the asset browser, which is cool……….. and eventually eat up a ton of memory. So, learn from my mistakes and don’t do that. lol

Since I listed this as a proposal, my proposal is people don't do what I did.

It also greatly impacts file size. The top it the file version with all the poses, the lower it the one without.

This has led me to an actual proposal.

A new asset browser….. so to speak. Nothing fancy, Just a window that will read a directory, and only show the Images with matching *.duf files, and allow you to load the selected pose onto the selected character. As opposed to actually loading it into the blend file as it does now. Just something super simple and lightweight. Just a thought anyway, this is meant to be more of a warning to others than anything else really.

Consider that the actual pose libraries take the whole blend files, that is, blender doesn’t “prune“ it from unnecessary data. So you may want to be sure that the blend file you use as pose library only contains poses, that should do it a small file. It is the user responsibility to “clean up” libraries.

note. I’m afraid handling libraries doesn’t concern diffeomorphic or daz assets specifically, so I’ll close as invalid if there’s nothing to add. We need to keep the tracker clean it’s for bugs not for warnings or tutorials. A better place for general discussion is the daz forum.
