simple ik is missing the custom layer

The simple ik rig is missing the custom layer for example for geografts bones. Also the pectoral bones are not included in any layer, not sure if they go to custom too. I see in mhx the pectorals go in the tweak layer that seems odd to me since they’re not tweak bones.

This is not a big deal since the layers can be selected in the blender interface, but there’s no selection in the rig interface.

steps:

  1. import g8f with some geografts
  2. convert to simple ik

    As a side note I see that the mhx head layer includes the teeth bones, those usually are not supposed to be animated, unless for special effects. The teeth bones are not included in any layer in rigify or simple ik, so I suppose mhx is a mistake ?

    bugs:

    1. simple ik: the custom layer is not selected when we press “all“
    2. simple ik: the custom layer also includes the forearmIKtwist and shinIKtwist bones that should be always hidden
    3. simple ik: the pectoral bones are not assigned to any layer
    4. mhx: the teeth bones are posable in the head layer, this doesn’t happen for rigify and simple ik

    Commit c835d5c works fine.

    bug. carpals. There’s another bug I missed before, the carpal bones should be hidden they are not intended for posing, same as metatarsals. This is also a bug in mhx.

    note. pectorals. You may want to move the pectoral bones in the spine layer both for simple ik and mhx, since they’re not custom nor tweak bones. But this is minor.

    Some tweaks in the last ocmmit:

    1. The Custom layer is renamed to Special. I don’t want to put the pects on the spine layer, since we (or at least I) usually don’t pose them, at least not together with the spine bones. In mhx the are on the tweak layer for the same reason.
    2. Carpals and tarsals are also moved to the Special/Tweak layer. We usually don’t want to touch them, but we might in some cases. The upper/lower teeth are on the same layer.
    3. Carpals and tarsal don’t have custom shapes anymore. I think the bones look better without, although we might want to display bones as sticks. Custom shapes for eyelids were also removed recently from the simple rig.
    4. I shamelessly stole the custom shapes for the shoulder and thigh IK bones from Rigify.

    Commit 9fc1951 is good.

    I don’t agree that pectorals and carpals are the same they’re different because pectorals are posable in daz studio while carpals tarsals teeth aren’t. Then your personal preferences are another thing. But this is minor I’m good with it.

    Taking shapes from rigify is good since it’s the standard for blender.

    If there’s nothing to add I’ll close as resolved thank you Thomas for the fast fixes.

    request. hide not posable bones for simple ik.

    Since simple ik doesn’t have tweak bones, can you please move carpals tarsals teeth in the second layer together with the other unused bones ? This way the special layer will only include pectorals and geografts. Otherwise I’ll do it myself by hand after converting. But I don’t think that anyone is interested in posing carpals tarsals teeth. Again they are not posable in daz studio, and also makes little sense to pose them anatomically speaking.
