Thomas, the geograft turns white simply because you didn’t copy the shell material on it. Of course if you want the shell to cover the geograft then you have to assign the material, otherwise the default is white. The fix shell tools are not needed.
When you have questions on materials feel free to ask, I may be able to help.
Example scene included blood.duf, it’s blood covering headlights.

p.s. To copy the material you have first to assign the same shader (usually uber or pbrskin) then copy and paste surfaces.
