Best method to fixing eyelid close

Issue #1691 invalid

When creating a custom character using Morph Loader Pro imported morphs, quite often I’ll need to fix the eyelid closing. I do this in Daz by using MCMs, but these don’t seem to be supported in Diffeomorphic. So, what’s the recommended way to fix eyelid closing so that it can import with diffeomorphic?

I just tested the Victoria 8 eJCMs for the eyes and they import fine as baked correctives, you should be able to do the same for your custom figure. Then don’t ask me how to rig in daz studio I’m not a PA. Or you can do a custom morph in blender then setup the driver yourself, there’s plenty of tutorials how to rig in blender.

Recently had this issue myself. I had to do it manually.

Port model, once done close the eyes. Add 2 new shapekeys, call them “lefteyefix” and right. Look for “eyeblink” shapekey to see which is left and which is right, then copy the drivers in the new shapekeys. Select the correct eye shapekey that you just created and go in Sculpt mode. For sculpt tips skip to the bottom of this comment. Make sure Mirror is off, mask the eyelid then sculpt. Switch to the other shapekey and repeat. When you’re done, transfer the face shapekeys to the eye tear and eyelash meshes. You can also do this over the eyeblink shapekeys but that’s a permanent edit and I wouldn’t suggest it.

I would suggest you mask the top eyelid of the eye you’re working on. Press Shift + A when the cursor is over the middle bottom area of the top eyelid, then press 3 and drag the mouse to around the corner of the eye until only the top eyelid is selected, then press CTRL + I. This will make sure you can only sculpt the top eyelid and not the bottom eyelid or eye mesh. After you’re done with 1 eyelid press Alt + M to clear the mask. Suggested mask image (I dunno if it uploaded or not, I can’t see it here)
