hair not following head bone?

Issue #2101 resolved

does anyone know why when I import from Daz the hair meshes never follow the head bone but will follow other bones, in daz it says the hair is parented to the head so why does the importer do this

From your pictures it looks like the hair is parented to one of the neck bones rather than to the head bone. Are you sure that the parent in DS really is the head? Most hair assets that I have use object parenting and vertex groups, but I made a simple hat, parented it to the head and imported into Blender. Works as expected.

yeah its still not working, i made sure to double-check In daz and the hair is parented to the head bone but not in blender

Bone parenting works fine here, I can’t reproduce the issue. Be sure to update both the addon and the daz script since Thomas changed both, then re-export the scene. Eventually you can upload a test scene as simple as possible.

p.s. Of course also check the log for errors, Balkazar has a similar issue in #2084 and his installation has broken paths. That’s a install issue and not a bug.

Okay so I found a solution when Importing a character the “make all bones posable” option was on and all I had to do was turn it off when importing

we can’t reproduce the issue but eventually this is a bug, you need to provide a test scene and exact steps

OK, I can reproduce the issue. It happens if we import body morphs, specifically the neck morphs, and make all bones posable. The hair’s parent bone becomes “head(drv)” rather than “head”.

@glitchsonic Please note that most body morphs are not compatible with ik rigs so they are usually not imported in blender, unless you want to pose with the daz rig.
