BVH support for facs and rig from FBX

Hi Thomas,

I have this new FBX from quickmagic, i was wondering if it’s possible a support for the FACS of those FBX.

When i hit import facs from FBX in bvh it totally import the whole fbx.

Also we can’t retarget it from BVH, iwe get an error when we want retarget it.

    As usual, your test file is messed up, there’s a lot of extra leaves and misaligned bones, even in rest pose. I don’t think it is the responsibility of the addon to try and fix messed up files. It is rather your responsibility to try and export correct files.

    As for the facs, those are defined as shapekeys on the face mesh in your test file. It may be possible to copy the facs animation from one mesh to another, provided they have the same facs standard names as specified in csv files.

    steps:

    1. load g8 with facs
    2. advanced setup > morphs > convert morphs to shapekeys
    3. load a mesh with a facs animation
    4. eventually rename the shapekeys as facs standard names
    5. copy animation

    To support that workflow, @Thomas may provide a tool to rename the daz facs as facs standard names. Basically “Eye Blink Left“ becomes “EyeBlinkLeft“ etc.

    Juste to make sure please, the file contain the standard ARKIT FACS naming correct? , so the daz facs are different ?

    Yes unfortunately the daz facs don’t map directly to the standard arkit facs, but some mapping is needed as Thomas is aware. However it would be possible to copy keyframes from arkit facs to daz facs.

    I started to look into this but it is going to take a while to fix. The errors should be gone, but retargeting does not work well. One problem is that the global movement is assigned to the object rather than to a hip bone. This makes sense in a fbx file, but since the retargeter was originally developed for bvh it assumes that there is a hip bone.

    As for the facs, the idea was that the plugin should find the mesh with facs shapekeys and get the facs morphs from there. But the result doesn’t look good so that requires further investigation too.
