modifying the rest position affect the model?

Issue #2128 invalid
ProMaxPlusUltralTi created an issue

I want to load BVH animation because the rest position of BVH is T-pose, so I changed the rest position of my G8 character to T-pose. As a result, there was an issue with the body mesh, which seems to be related to the rotation of the bones?

The jcms are designed for the daz rest pose, if you change the rest pose then the jcms will not work as intended. Though in this case the T pose shouldn’t change the legs too much. How she does without jcms ?

p.s. The retargeter by Thomas doesn’t change the rest pose though, so this doesn’t seem a bug with the addon but just your own problem. If you need a general purpose retargeter there’s plenty for blender you could use one, in general they don’t change the rest pose either.

p.p.s If there’s nothing to add you can close as invalid.

What I mean is, this is not related to JCM. Regardless of whether JCM is imported or not, distortion will occur,

I can’t reproduce the issue here. We can safely change the rest pose and the deformations are the same without jcms, of course since they are driven only by weight maps in this case. Below an example where the right side is the new rest pose in T-shape and the left side is posed.

    steps:

    1. load a figure
    2. change the rest pose
    3. pose the figure
