The Core Zone Clothing won't import

Issue #2166 resolved
Thomas Burd created an issue

For some reason when my character is wearing: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-core-zone-outfit-for-genesis-9

I get this error message in a box and nothing happens, as soon as I remove the clothing, the character imports correctly.

I don’t know if this is an issue on my end or with the addon?

I have been able to import this piece of clothing into blender in the past.

The dbz file appears to be corrupt. Open the scene in DS and export to Blender again.

I done it multiple times with different characters, new scenes.

All other clothing products works, its only when I use this specific clothing type that this error message appears.

I can confirm the issue, it works fine with the 1.7.3 importer and blender 3.6, so this could be a bug in the export script. I tried to set the outfit as base resolution in daz studio and export HD but it doesn’t work. Exporting as non-HD doesn’t work either.

    Test scene included.

I don’t have that asset, but it turns out that it doesn’t matter, because I can reproduce the error anyway. The culprit is that

    "Adjustable Weightmap Layer
    Hoodie"

contains a newline, which results in a json error when the file is imported. It doesn’t show up in the Scene tab, but you can see it in the Parameters tab. It wasn’t a problem in earlier versions of the plugin because nodes like the weightmap were not exported then.

In the last commit newlines are replaced by spaces when the file is exported. The file can be imported, but dbz data for the weightmap node isn’t found. This isn’t a problem in this case, but if the same thing happens for meshes the plugin would have to deal with it.

Commit 9c8db3b works fine, thank you for the fast fix. If there’s nothing to add we can close as resolved.

As a side note, the HD version gets errant vertices. In this case exporting HD is not needed as the outfit doesn’t get HD details, a workaround is to set base resolution in daz studio before exporting, then set a subd modifier in blender by hand. Thomas, again, you may want to consider #2152 for the HD name convention, that would allow to better deal with HD in general and these cases too. For G9 having a easy way to define HD is particularly important.

Thanks for the quick response and fix. It imports correctly now.

Funny, I was pretty sure I had done something wrong.
