MHX Pose not lining up with new MHX version

Issue #2192 resolved
IT Roy created an issue

First of all, great work on Diffeomorphic and MHX. It works very well. I’m having an issue with any character where I convert them with the new MHX rig. When I apply a pose asset saved from a character converted using a previous MHX version (1.7.1.0082), I get the attached screenshot where things don’t line up exactly on the character with the new rig. Didn’t know if there was an easy way to resolve this issue without going pose by pose to adjust and then update the pose asset.

Perhaps you used “fix elbows and knees“ which is removed in the new MHX as not necessary, that could cause the issue you are experiencing as pivots are slightly different. However in general to get the pose working with the blender library you have to use the same rig, you can’t transfer poses among different rigs. The MHX options in 4.2.1 are different from 1.7.1, so depending on what you choose the generated rig is different, and issues are expected.

That means to get your poses perfectly working you have to stick with MHX 1.7.1, or accept and fix some difference. Unless Thomas has better ideas.

Both the mhx rig and the Blender API have changed a number of times, and I don’t remember exactly how and when. The plugin detects some critical issue and tries to update the rig, but this is not perfect. It is safer to save a blend file with the original genesis rig, and only convert it to mhx in a separate file.

Thomas, this is different. The user saves mhx poses in the blender pose library then wants to load those poses in a different mhx version. This will only work for bones with the same name, even so if the rig is different it may produce different results, as in the user description. I believe this is expected and not a bug.
