may be rigify bug

Issue #287 resolved
Alessandro Padovani created an issue

daz studio 4.14, blender 2.91, commit b8c1271

I know rigify has limits to import daz poses, so I’m not sure if this is normal or a bug. Below is what I get when I try G8F kneeling b with rigify. While mhx works fine.

That doesn’t look good, nor is it what I see. Did you change the armature in some way before rigifying, or hid some bones or something?

    Nope. Here the steps:

    1. import g8f
    2. merge rigs
    3. convert to rigify
    4. import kneeling b pose

Tried various settings for import pose but I get the same result. Anyway if it’s just me it’s ok. I was reporting this here mainly for others I don’t use rigify myself. If you can confirm that the above steps work for you I’ll mark as resolved.

Then a question. Is rigify more limited than mhx to import daz poses ? Or did you fix it and now they are equivalent ?

Commit 0d24427 works much better. The rigify version has a strange bulge in the hip area that doesn’t appear in the original daz version, nor in the mhx version. Other than that it seems good to me.

Please let me know if the bulge is a limit of the rigify conversion or a small bug. If it’s a limit I’ll mark as resolved and we’ll be aware that mhx works better to import daz poses. Indeed I originally posted this report to compare rigify vs mhx as it was requested in the daz forum.

below the correct bending that’s the same in daz and mhx

below the strange bulge in the rigify version

The strange bulge in the hip area is still there in 1.6.2. Will leave this open since it’s not fixed so we’re aware that rigify doesn’t work fine at least for some poses.

    Steps as above.

Apparently the pelvis vertex group (renamed to DEF-spine in Rigify) was lost. Now fixed.
