Merge geografts genital and headlights issue

Issue #328 closed
Alex Miller created an issue

Hi, thank you for creating such a good plugin im just having a big issue with the Merge geografts options. It’s often greyed out and when I get it to work genitals and headlights (I think the bones) stay in the same position when you try and pose the genesis figure. The skin warps and stretches so something is connecting just not the whole graft.

Im really not sure what im doing wrong I’ve looked through the other “issues” here but cant find a solution to my problem hopefully you can help and sorry to bother you.

I see you didn’t merge the armatures. May be this is related to your issue. Please do not post blender files since this is not allowed by the daz eula. Just duf files will do fine.

    1. merge rigs
    2. merge geografts

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
I’ve tried merging the armatures, they’re either not merging or it’s not fixing the issue. Not sure where im going wrong my starting hierarchy in blender looks completely different from yours does in the tutorial you have on your blogspot but im exporting from Daz as the tutorial says.

Very sorry for posting the blend file, I wasn't sure of the rules, wont happen again

Just tested it and everything seems to work fine. There are no distortions here. After merging you get one single armature in the scene, and one single mesh apart the eyelashes, as shown below. The blog is by Thomas, not me, I’m just a user with some experience with the plugin trying to help.

Also be sure to get the latest development version, you don’t want to mess with old bugs.

    1. select all the rigs (ctrl key), then the G8F rig as last, then merge them
    2. select all the geografts (ctrl key), then the G8F mesh as last, then merge them

tried a lot of different things, I either get an “active object is not a selected armature” warning or (like the images below) I try and “join” them with ⌘J (sorry mac) the Genital bones still dont move when you pose the body. Im exstreamly new to blender so im completely lost, I think I need to do some courses.

I really really appreciate all the help though thank you

I think Alessandro meant merging with the addon’s “merge geografts” button (in the Finishing section), after previously merging armatures with the “merge rigs” button (in the Corrections section).

The unposable bones are likely driven bones (read about Blender’s Drivers to understand this). To know if the bone is being driven, select the bone in pose mode and check if the Transform properties in Bone Properties appear with a purple background.

To make all bones posable, you can use the Make All Bones Posable of this addon (in the Finishing section).

Alex, in your pictures you didn’t merge rigs nor geografts. You need to merge them with the multiple selection as explained above. In windows we use the ctrl key for multiple selection, sorry I don’t know what’s the mac equivalent.

Also please don’t post “hard” pictures unless necessary. Personally I’m fine with nudity and genitals but this is a technical forum and there may be more sensitive people around, so we may want to be kind.
