optimize for speed ?

I see this new option in the global settings and I wonder what it does.

It sets the viewport subdivision level to 0. I wasn’t aware that there was another way to do that globally.

Yep it’s the simplify option in blender.

In this case, since it affects the scene, a more detailed popup would be nice as “set viewport subdivision to zero” instead of “optimize for viewport speed“ that could be anything. Then honestly, if it’s all it does, I believe this option is not necessary and could also be “messy” if the user isn’t aware. Because some users may want subdivision in the viewport.
