Bone drivers

Issue #587 closed

Hi there!
From what I know, bones are not affected by shapekeys, so I wonder if there’s another way to do what I need.
Actually, I’m trying to have a G8.1 base inside blender, add stuff like extra bones, and then import custom morphs to recreate my final characters.
Morphs that affect shape works fine, but, as mentioned before, those that affect bones don’t work, like height, chest depth or face morphs.
I know that diffeomorphic is not made to replace daz, but I wonder if there is, or there will be one way to import a full custom char or morphs into a genesis base inside blender.
Thanks 🙂

Morphs that affect bone transforms (translation, rotation, scale) can be imported. However, DS also has some generalized kind of morphs (which are perhaps called ERC morphs), which would correspond to morphing the rest pose in Blender. Such morphs can not be imported.

Thomas means,, blender not offer way to drive edit bone position. (without you change code and make it as new branch I suppose) by property. I know there had been some user report and asked it, but at least it will not be offered (do not know detail though, usulally , with change rest pose bones + pose bones should be difficult for blender to up-date correctly. I suppose.

When you select rig, then go to edit mode, you know each edit bone have property how locate and twist these bone. (tail head, roll)

almost all property, we can add driver, but for those props, when you select with r-click, then serch funciton add driver, you find there is no such function. = we can not set driver for edit bone translform value = rest pose bone position.

So to make it work, at least blender offer way , controll edit bone transform (driver or constrain or node etc,) , we need to request it to blender dev.

I understand, well, for now, better to leave blender dev work on the 3.0 version 😃
    Thanks for the explanation!
