What is the purpose of export HD, is it possible to merge XIN plugin ?

Issue #813 resolved

Hello,

i always ignored this part of the plugin, untill recently because i always used only very low poly modes, but now i just can’t understand what’s the purpose of it because the daz subdivision are not applied automatically, so if we disable it in blender the mesh is similar to a normal mesh.

I want to know is it possible to apply the subdivision before the export ? and still use the custom morphs etc.. and shapekeys?( without going through the XIn plugin) , i am very familiar with the plugin use it for many year and i know literally every function but still have trouble to understand how to use those HD stuff, i don' t know why Thomas don’t merge XIN plugin to be included automatically in the official Diffeo plugin.

Anyway or if we have a function like this:

you literally can choose the subdivision before exporting, and without loosing your shapekeys!

Thank you so much ~~

God bless!

The HD by Thomas and Xin are very different. Thomas uses a multires modifier, while Xin generates HD maps and/or true HD meshes.

i understand, but what’s the point of using a multires modifier, an export HD normally should be an export of an HD mesh like what did Xin, the multires can be added manually in blender.

Also actually instead of using the HD export, or Xin export.

    i was using this:

Blender 2.82 : SHAPE KEY TRANSFER Asymmetrical Topology (In 30 Seconds!) - YouTube

i just take a normal mesh use as much subsurf or multires or smoothness just make sure to keep same topology, then shape key transfer, all works fine.

the shape keys and everything works fine and are transferred succesfully, even the driver, but it seems that diffeo custom morphs doesnt recognize the new drivers that are transferred with this assymetrical topology plugin:

any idea how to fix that?

Well that’s why you should use the plugin instead. Otherwise do it yourself the way you want but don’t expect diffeo to follow.

yes i’m using this because unfortunately when i add geograft the xin plugin doesn’t work properly and can’t import shapekeys to my HD mesh, and there is no tutorial around.

Also, you are not really using HD shape keys in your example. You are just using the interpolated shape keys from the base mesh and projecting them onto the base mesh again. You don’t get HD details that way, because the HD info is in .dhdm files. You would have to either import a lot of HD meshes from daz (very time consuming) or read the .dhdm files directly, which is what the HD addon does.

Thank you Xin, i still think your plugin must be directly included into diffeo and maybe replace the export HD multires thing.

because when you download it from the official blog, you have a very old version full of errors. you have to read your topic and scroll down and becareful of the version haha, even me who is very familiar with your work guys i had trouble understanding .. without your help i will be really lost haha so i think maybe some tutorials will help newbie people!

Anyway nevermind all good for me,

    Thanks again!! and happy holidays.
