Encounter error when using the baking normal map function
(Sorry I’m new to daz and blender and diffeomorphic plugin, if this is already covered in documentation / previous issues, it would be great if you can point me to it~~ thank you so much in advance!! )
I was referring to these links to bake normal maps (after I imported the HD version from daz into blender).
- https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/345/victoria-81-setup-for-blender
After doing the sculpting in blender 3.0, I selected the HD asset and clicked the bake normal app button from the plugin.
However I got the following error and found that only the folder was created, but there is no file in it. I have the scene saved as a blend file.
Could anyone please advise what have I done wrong and how can I fix it? Many thanks!!

reporter I just found this related issue https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/814/blender-addon-to-generate-rigged-hd-meshes, I updated the scale in settings to 1 and then tried to press Bake Maps again, but still nothing happened.

did you try use the last commit ?, also try generate your HD mesh with Xin plugin check here : Diffeomorphic / import_daz / issues / #814 - Blender addon to generate rigged hd meshes, hd shape keys, normals and vector displacement textures from daz HD morph files [part 2] — Bitbucket

reporter Thanks for the reply! I was using the link from the diffeo website:
Stable version 1.6.0:
Let me try with the latest commit~

repo owner The problem may be that simplify is enabled (in the scene context). If the max subdiv level is lower than the multires level, baking did not work. The Bake Maps tool temporarily disables multires since commit 9161814, but that commit probably didn’t make it into v 1.6.0.
The time has come to freeze development and proclaim the current version to be version 1.6.1. In the meantime, you can download the development version from https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/downloads/

reporter thanks thomas! I removed the old version and tried downloading the almost stable version 1.6.1 (I’m using Blender 3.0 on win10)

When I tried to install I got this error:
any idea what I did wrong?
Thanks!!

reporter adding to my previous comment, I also got this error as well when activating the mhx plugin.
I was able to activate Xin’s HD mesh plugin.
Thanks!!

repo owner It is probably some kind of conflict between the new and old addons. I also got some error when I first tried to install, although not the same error. The following method worked for me.
- Disable daz importer and mhx.
- Remove the files from Blender’s addon directory, which in my case is C:/Users/Thomas/AppData/Roaming/Blender Foundation/Blender/2.92/scripts/addons
- Restart Blender.
- Install the addons from the zip file as described in the docs.
Xin’s HD addon isn’t included in this release which means that the old version is still there.

reporter thanks thomas! I separately installed xin’s addon so it works ok~ I followed your steps and now can get the 1.6.1 addons working
I also tried to bake normal maps and the maps are successfully created in the folder!! hooray!!
thanks so much guys for your help ~~
