You might be able to put a resource counter as well as a box for quick easy to reference notes in the sidebar. I made a really ugly diagram of it, and I hope you can forgive its shoddiness. But yeah you might be able to have a text box and underneath a window with a bunch of counters in it. And you can press + to add more counters or less and you could scroll within the window to see all the custom counters that might be there.
Sorry if this isn't very useful.
So as an example, on the default sheet, this particular character would keep track of multiple things on here - some he didn’t need to but wanted to (such as spell save DC), which he has admitted he can do without, and it’s not a concern at all. Others, like keeping track of how nice he is to the puppy they recently found, or how many times he’s been hit by an attack (he needs to keep track for a magic item). It would be far easier to have an editable field on the front page (like people have suggested) than create a feature to have on the macro bar - especially when some of these things come and go so quickly (the hit by attack for example will change to a new objective when he reaches 10).
Thank you for this. I had actually already settled on what seemed like a good solution, which was to put resource counters on macros. The macro bar has a similar drag-and-drop customisable nature to it, so all it was missing was a label which showed the number of resources available.
I’ve implemented this in the latest version 3.9.4, so definitely take a look at that and see if it meets your needs. It’s not exactly the same because the macro bar works on a per-user basis rather than a per-character basis. I haven’t ruled out a full sheet-based solution like the one you’ve shown but it’s a fair bit more work to implement all of the functionality you get with the macro bar for free, and I think the macro bar solution gets you most of the way there.
I did add the notes section to the sheet though, as I think there was another enhancement raised for the same thing a little while ago.
