Please help Brightness Controller 1.5.7 Beta not working

Please help. I installed Brightness Controller 1.5.7 Beta Setup.exe of the brightness controller but it's not working. I am using Windows 10 on a Lenovo Yoga 720 which has two USB-C and one USB ports. My 24" Apple Cinema display port is connected via a display port adapter USB-C to display port . The monitor only works when plugged into the non power usb-c. When I run the .exe I get no response. Any thoughts? I really need to darken the screen I am working on a 3,000page spreadsheet that is 3 pages wide. My eyes are killing me!
