Apple LED Cinema Display 27" not detected by app on Windows 11

Issue #73 new
Former user created an issue

Hi Master Jens, I was trying to use this app to control the display brightness but the app does not seem to identify the connection. I am using a Thunderbolt to USB C dongle. My computer has an NVIDIA Graphics card to which I connect the display via the USB C connection. Please help me solve this problem. Regards, LL

I have the same issue with my miniDisplayport / USB-A 27” Apple LED Display. It worked fine on Windows 10. I have since upgraded to 11 and upgraded to a new graphics card.

Now I get the error message “A compatible Cinema Display was detected but Brightness hontroller was unable to open the USB HID Device. Please make sure any other program using the device are closed.”

I don’t believe I have any other programs that would be using this.

If I unplug the USB-A cable and plug it back in, it then works fine. But upon rebooting the computer, I face the same issue. It’s really annoying to have to cycle this cable everytime I turn my computer on.

Running on V1.5.7.30342 (just like I was on Windows 10 when it worked fine). If I try to install any other version the installation fails because it requires a 4.5 NET and I’m not able to have that on a newer windows OS.

Anyone get this to work on Windows 11?

Just popping in to say that I’ve since switched to Twinkle Tray, which seems to be more feature-rich. I’m really thankful that something like this exists on Windows 11, and even though I wasn’t expecting to, I really like that I can use it on my ROG monitor as well as the Apple monitor. With my Streamdeck+ hotkeys I can easily toggle between which monitor I’m controlling.
