Mailing list

Issue #161 resolved
Xinqiu Yao created an issue

I do have received questions about CNA recently and made long replies which I think would be good to store somewhere for future review.

Maybe a mailing list system is what we need. Googlegroup is one option but I heard it will not be well supported any longer. Any other idea?

I thought mailchimp was for sending marketing like messages and is not a 'Q&A repository' like system, which I think is what Xinqiu is referring to.

We don't track or mail announcements to users as I personally don't like this. However, tracking users will be important if we want to secure funding for these activities in the future.

As a first step to evaluate whether we need a 'Q&A mailing list repository' I suggest that when you get asked a question that is likely to be asked by others that we add it to the 'issues list' here on bitbucket and then refer to it in future messages. GitHub does much better with this sort of thing (and in some other areas that suggests we might be better served there).

Thanks! A 'Q&A repository' is exactly what I want. I am posting the question on issues for now but will keep an eye on mailchimp or other systems.
