Ends game with a colony on colonist hub

Issue #27 new
Former user created an issue

This may be a feature request rather than a bug depending on rules lawyering. The game should end when the player's last colony ship is placed in a territory. My game group has always interpreted the last paragraph of the rules on Colonist Hub as meaning that the colony on the hub does not count as a placed colony. After all, if the game ended immediately when the last colony was taken from the players supply to the board, why would there be an opportunity to also play the colony from the hub? Our games go until ALL colonies are placed on territories.

Perhaps you have access to the designer or a FAQ with clarifying intent, but I would at least like the option to continue playing this wa.y ;-)

Thanks for your attention

This is a bug, but it's just a visual bug -- not a gameplay bug. Note that your colony counter (in your HUD) does not decrease when you add your first die to the Colonist Hub. In the board game, you would have removed the colony from the hub when placed on the constructor. The rulebook states:

"Your final colony is not locked into the Colonist Hub. If your last colony is on the Colonist Hub and your roll gives you the opportunity to use the Terraforming Station or the Colony Constructor, you may remove the colony from the Colonist Hub and place it on a territory via the rules for those other facilities."

There is a bug in the program, but it's only a visual discrepancy -- the game was still played correctly. If you count up the number of colonies you landed, it's the correct amount.

What should have happened was that the colony should have been removed from the Hub when it was the last colony -- but that's only a visual -- not a functional -- difference.

    Thanks for the report!
