Can’t connect Nikon D5300 since I updated to BETA016 on my mini stick PC

Issue #1017 resolved
Urtzi Odriozola created an issue

My Nikon D5300 can’t connect since I updated to BETA016 on my mini stick PC. NINA atempts to connect the camera but hangs there infinitly.

The PC recognizes the camera and I’m able to view the storage content. But no errors, no logs about the problem... only the waiting icon spining.

This is the unique log I found:

But the strange thing is that I tested the same camera/cable on my laptop (Windows 10 Home edition) with the same version of NINA and it works... I don't know what could be the difference... the OS updates maybe? The OS edition?

I tried updating both the laptop and mini PC with BETA019 and BETA020 and the result was in both cases the same: On the laptop no problem with the connection, but the mini PC doesn’t still recognize the camera.

I looked for in the logging (Trace mode) and in the mini PC there is no clue of whats happening (no line related with the Nikon connection or attempt), but the laptop shows in a very detailed way the connection.

How can I trace the problem? Can I obtain more detailed logging or info of what’s happening here?

Same problem here… reinstalled everything and same result. My laptop does run Windows 10 home edition and my stick Windows 19 Pro. Could it be an option in W10Pro??

Exactly the same problem with NINASetupBundle_2.0.0.2024. Both laptop (DELL XPS13) and Remote MiniPC (AWOW 8GB RAM Mini PC Stick Intel Celeron J4105, 128GB SSD) have Windows 10 Pro installed. NINA shows “Nikon” camera on both PCs. On the laptop, NINA connects to the Nikon cameras, but not on the Mini PC (endless loop, with remote and with direct access). I tested with D600, D750 and Z6. Cameras are recognized on all PCs (in device manager: as portable devices).

I am in the process of reinstalling everything on the stick pc for the second time. I will post the result as well as the HW/SW used.

Complete fresh reinstallation… no succes. It does work fine on the laptop with the same version of NINA. The usb auto play settings set to NoAction before plugging te D7000. The usb driver installed without proble and NINA can’t see it.

hello everyone, I have the same problem with my nikon d5300 I try to connect with the nikon option of nina and I get the following error,

the camera is in manual mode and in bulb mode and I get the same error, with the other programs such as digicam control it works perfectly for me.

  8. Mauricio Cascante

hello friends, I tell you that the latest update of nina beta already detects my Nikon d5300 camera

I tried once again with the latest BETA031 with the same camera (D5300), but the issue is not solved for me. The problem seems to be related with the compatibility of NINA with Windows Pro drivers or with some of the latest OS updates.

Since yesterday my Nikon Z6 D750, and D600 are recognized by NINA (Beta029, with which I tried before without success) on the mini PC. I do not know if, in the meantime, some Windows updates helped to solve the problem. Beta031 also works.

Hi everyone. Still with no success… and BETA033 recently installed. Can you please post a miniPC model you use? Which steps do you proceed in order to connect your cameras? Camera first and then NINA, first NINA and then your camera…

Mauricio, can you give me more details of your camera configuration options of NINA please?

    Thank you all

I just upgraded from the stabel to the latest beta and have the same issue. I can’t connect to my Nikon D5300. But the Nikon option even doesen’t show up.

I switched back to stable and it worked like a charm again.

Note: It is also a Windows 10 Pro machine

Have similar issues with my Nikon D5200. It connects in NINA, but when I try imaging or polar alignment, it hangs up and never downloads an image. I’m on Windows 10 and have no issues using this same camera in either SGP or DigiCam.

I had a problem connecting to my mount on the week-end and realised that my remote desktop options allowed port sharing between the PCs… Onced I removed the option it worked! Could it be the same for our cameras?? I only thought about it yesterday and my rig is at my cabin… does anyone want to test it?!

I have 2 instances of NINA and a Nikon D5600

Intel Laptop : NINA works with my Nikon D5600

Mele Quieter2Q : NINA does not work with Nikon D5600

Both are on Version 2.0 RC001, The same usb cable is used to connect with the camera between the two OS.

I did manage to control my camera using DigicamControl on the Mele Quieter2Q.

    Hi all,

Recently I was able to reinstall Windows 10 and NINA RC001 on my mini stick PC and all problems were solve. So I guess, everything was cause by some kind of windows misconfiguration, halfway update or similar.
Now, not only it's recognizing a D5300, but detect and plugin in as a charm in only one step.

So, for me this issue is solved and it can be closed.

Thanks all for the patience and information shared with me.
