Send coordinates of mosaic from legacy sequence to framing wizard

Issue #1336 open
Jingyuan Bai created an issue

Reproducible in both 3.1 HF1 and 3.1 HF2 RC4, Windows 11.

Steps to reproduce (please refer to the attached screen recording):

  1. In Framing tab, set up a mosaic (two panels here);
  2. Add the targets to legacy sequence;
  3. In Sequencer tab, choose either panel and click the icon button “Send coordinates to the Framing Wizard”;
  4. In Framing tab, check the position of the mosaic panels on the sky map;
  5. PROBLEM: position of the panels has been changed.

    Hi, the button to send the coordinates to framing is not built to restore a mosaic. It will simply send the current target coordinates as the new center

    Maybe the behavior is not that intuitive to me, I didn’t get you.

    • Screenshot A shows the planned mosaic. Coordinates of the panels are listed under Mosaic Panels.

    * Screenshot B shows the coordinates of panel 1 in the sequence, which is correct.

    * By sending the coordinates of panel1 to the framing wizard, as shown on screenshot C, the coordinates of panel 1 were changed. Shouldn’t it keep unchanged?

    It’s understandable that restoring mosaic is not what this feature intends to address. However, the behavior looks a bit strange.

    On a two panel mosaic, the center is neither panel a nor panel b but the center in between. If you now send the coordinates of panel A or B back into framing this will be used as the center and therefore you have this shift.

    Got it. Thanks for the explanation. IMHO, this behavior is not straightforward and hopefully it can be improved in the future. It’s not a big issue, though.
