HFR value not recording in Frame before AF routine starts

Issue #242 resolved
Former user created an issue

This is the first time I have seen this, but tonight the recorded HFR value of the frame right before AF sequence starts is 0. As soon as AF is complete it continues with the proper documenting the HFR value for the frames. I have AF set to 20min during sequences. Last night and the night before I had it set to 30mins between AF routines. It has happened about 3 times tonight. Perhaps the AF routine should be delayed a couple of seconds (or however long it needs to be) to allow for the recording of the HFR values before it shuts them off for the AF procedures? For my issue tonight, during AF, the star detection and HFR button is turned off and then it turns back on after the AF routine is complete. I think it might be jumping the gun and turning off this feature too soon.

Do you have logs, ideally in trace or debug? And did the frames right before AF actually have nice stars that NINA could actually detect?

Frames before AF looked great. Interesting thing is it did not do it before the AF routine right after I typed this issue. I do not have logs in debug or trace, only in error. Should I change this setting?

OK I checked the code, and your assumption may actually be right, unless I’m mistaken (I like to compare threaded code to the timelines in a time travel movie - it can get complex, see Primer). Let me guess:

    • your computer is somewhat slow, and/or you are using a fairly high resolution camera, likely OSC
    • you do not dither, or dither every n frames, with n != 1
