my suggestion would not to implement hidden fields.

seems unlikely to me that secret fields would enhance security in this case. this would need to apply to apikey/secret as well and it would be hard to know whether the inputs are correct.

Unless there is an hidden complexity I might be overlooking, I definitely see it as useful. Common case : the RPC password is also used for other services, and is short enough to be able to memorise it in a glimpse. That will put in danger the wallet and maybe other accounts if someone around the desk/display can take a glimpse at it.

right. yes, there should actually be not more complexity, other than changing the input type field.
