Pipes deleting items

On orcus, I used a ship to drop off a shipment of terracotta. My ship's chests' extractors were hooked up to the pipe leading into the output chests on the outside. All seemed smooth at first, but of the 3 double chests of terracotta, only half a chest survived. Nothing out of the ordinary besides this.
