Delta Charizard staying Mega Evolved after a battle

I battled through the Memory Chamber, and mega evolved my Delta Charizard during the battle. The next battle, against the same trainer (Sage Chimpact), Delta Charizard started mega evolved the first time it switched in, without it mega evolving at all that battle.
