Game crashed after losing to wild pokemon

After having completed the intro sequence and chose a starter (Eevee). Just outside the first town I was battling a Nidoran♂. When my Eeve was knocked out I simply got an error message saying that it failed to load a script and the game immediately closed with no opportunity to save.
