Resetting EVs does not bring the stat down

While I was EV training I noticed something major, as I went to reset my Hitmonlee's "attack" EV to 0, the stat before the reset, and after the reset was exactly the same. Meaning that the benefits of my previous EV training session hadn't disappeared, if I am able to EV train again that would mean I effectively can infinitely increase my Hitmonlee's attack stat as long as I reset after I hit the cap, this is a fairly big bug.
