my game won't open

I've been having a great time with this game for a few weeks now but for some reason the game just won't open, no errors, no crashing, it just won't open, the thing is, when i downloaded the game(1.0.12, mac), i made a copy, and the copy works just fine, but... i REALY want my save file back, and thats something the copy doesn't have. what should i do? is there a way to open it? or just move my save files to the working game? why did it even stop working it the first place?!!?!? ...please, i need help i'll be devastated if i have to start over, i spent WAY to much time on this game.
