Beat up and moxie bug

I was playing a egglocke with the community egg sheet,

I've got a Sandile with Moxie and it learned the move Beat Up Got into a battle in the midna cave, fighting against a guy who has a Ponyta

My Sandile uses beat up and defeats the rival Ponyta with 3 hits. Attack raises due to moxie. But then it makes the 4th hit into the defeated ponyta and raises its attack again. It does it again with the 5th and 6th hit each time the moxie raises sandile's attack.

By defeating the ponyta my sandile got +4 boost in attack due to beat up counting each extra hit as another defeat
