Game Crashes When entering New Game

So I've seen the issue brought up, but has yet to be answered. I've managed to boot up the game, and get to the main menu screen. I then select new game, and it fades to a black screen as the (presumably) introduction music plays. However, instead of loading the introduction, it instead just stays at a black screen and plays the music on loop. I need to use task manager to end it.

I've tried fully deleting and reinstalling the Windows 1.1.7 core from one zip file and have tried multiple downloads of the core from the internet, and each one has the same issue.

I'm having the same problem. I was playing on my surface pro 3 but the lag was unbearable so I downloaded it on my pc but it crashes whenever I try to start new game.

If you are on Windows 10 and have a controller connected, try disconnecting it.
