Sniper Ability Crit Bug

Pokémon with the ability "Sniper" can hit crits more often, but only them seem to hit through a defense/sp. defense raise, Like a Gardevoir Calm Minding to raise sp. defense and taking no damage from a Kingdra using Hydro Pump, then a crit comes from the Kingdra doing damage like the Calm Minds where never set up.

Critical hits always ignore positive changes to opponent's defenses. I assume the Kingdra you're referring to is Audrey's, which hold a scope lens even on easy difficulty.
