Internet causes my game to die

Hi, Mac user here. Whenever I try to connect to the Internet, it tells me that the script is taking too long, then it saves and kills itself. Obviously, I am online, and I looked through reddit, looking at suggestions. I reinstalled the game, transferred my save and it died. I tried 3 more times, it died. I tried every button, c included, it still died. I have 2 trade evolutions - can this be fixed? I don't want to give up on my delta scyther!

I'm running 1.1.8, by the way. Fantastic game so far, I have so much new respect for sabeleye

EDIT: My mistake, found the witchdoctor. But my point still stands, I'd like to be able to trade.
