Confuse Ray (or confusion in general) not working properly

When I use Confuse Ray with my Lanturn, the opponent doesn't hit itself in confusion when the text says it does. It isn't able to attack either, but no damage is taken nonetheless. Moreover, occasionally, my own pokemon gets confused when the other pokemon does, however the same effect applies (no damage taken when the text says I hit myself in confusion).

Now, I'm not sure whether this only applies to Confuse Ray or confusion in general, I might have to test it out with other confusing moves.

This bug occured all of a sudden. Confuse Ray always worked properly before, but from one moment to the other, it got broken.
