sprite whitewashing glitch

not to sound like a complete SJW or whatever, but i picked the black skin option for my character and this happened:
yeah, so thats a bit of an issue. i just patched the core and started a new file for this to happen.
i can probably fix it myself if i'm given copies of the sprites i need to replace and their file names, i think, but i'm not sure if its just a problem on my side or everyone's side
the version is the most recent version that was released on 15th august or so (same files as the ones i put above are also in attachments as this is my first post here and i wasnt sure if they'd show up)

yeah, wasn't sure what to rly call it tbh so i just picked something vaguely relevant; im wondering if the files got deleted or are not reading, so it defaults to the first male one?
i've played a few badges in, so if its the first cultist transformation bit you're talking about i'm not spoiled, no worries. first female sprite never had this problem for me, so perhaps me patching broke it for me?

Yeah, I think that this is a 1.2.0+ issue (as I don't remember it ever happening in 1.1.8). I think you're right that that is the first male sprite, but I can't be too sure.
I've yet to encounter anything of this sort with the male sprites, so I'm not quite sure why on earth this is happening.

huh - ive just restarted the game again (after replacing hair 5 for all of the females with the hairbow style bc aesthetic) and the skin fixed itself. preview pics below.
also, noticed that the 'glitched version' gave me the boy card as well instead of just the sprite; this also seems to have fixed itself. i genuinely dont understand coding.

bumping to say that i also remember that the dialogue was also referring to the player as a male (or with neutral pronouns, which is normal i think)

You're not alone. I believe that this is for all female character sprites (aka, it's not "whitewashing", it's a glitch in the female sprite itself). It's fixed after changing to the really not spoilers Darkrai cultist end not really spoilers, but there's a related issue when entering battle.
