Gastro Acid doesn't properly surpress opponent's abilities

I was fighting a Machamp with No Guard and used Gastro Acid on him and I found that despite his No Guard ability supposedly being supressed, dynamic punch would hit every single time. This led me to the conclusion that Gastro Acid was not properly functioning.
