Life Orb not working with Sheer Force

I was playing with against the Abyssal Cult leader and was using my Sheer Force Nidoking with a life orb equipped. Sheer Force gets rid of the life orb recoil but a bug seems to also get rid of the damage boost. My Earth Power did about 50% to the Lanturn with the life orb, then I changed the item to an expert belt and it did like 70-80%.
