Only Receiving 1 EXP

I've battled a few wild Pokemon and a Trainer on an old save file and have only received 1 EXP per Pokemon battled, even when I used different Pokemon (Delta Sunflora and Delta Scyther). For the trainer battle, the opponents were around level 46 and mine were 54 and 55 respectively, so it wasn't due to a massive level difference. Also, my game is set to Darker and Hard Mode if that makes a difference.
