Route 3 Scientist endst battle before her Pokemon actually faints

I was battling this scientist on route 3, when she switched out her Dedene for her Klink. After dealing with Klink and her other Pokemon, her Dedene would soon fall. But as soon as the Dedene's HP hit zero, the battle acted like I beat her, but I got no exp from defeating the Dedene whatsoever. http://i.imgur.com/wz5dgbT.png
